The Mt. Angel Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Oregon Hazelnut Marketing Board and the Oregon Department of Agriculture is sponsoring the annual Mt. Angel Hazelnut Festival and German Holiday Market on
Saturday, December 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday December 3, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Hazelnut Fest includes a German style holiday market featuring authentic German and regional arts and crafts, Oregon wineries and breweries and foods that feature Hazelnuts.

The history of the Hazelnut in the Willamette Valley of Oregon dates back to the settlement of the valley by early French settlers. Today, more than 600 growers are located in the Willamette Valley the prime growing region for hazelnuts in the United States.

Mt. Angel, Oregon is a wonderful place to visit! Nestled between farmland and foothills, Mt. Angel is located 18 miles northeast of Salem on Highway 214. This little town, founded in the late 1800s by German settlers, has an Old World flavor which is heightened by the many Bavarian-style storefronts and signage. Mt. Angel celebrates their German heritage each year during the Oktoberfest, one of Oregon's largest festivals. More than 350,000 people attend the four-day festival, which has been held in Mt. Angel for more 50 years. Oktoberfest was also founded by the Mt. Angel Chamber.

The small town of Mt. Angel - population 4,000 knows how to put on a festival. The Hazelnut Festival and German Holiday Market is built on the chamber of commerce tradition of skilled marketing of events and a large team of volunteers.
