Since 1902 Independence Days (or "Western Days") has been an exciting celebration in Independence, Oregon that draws thousands of people from across Oregon to celebrate the tradition of a hometown Fourth of July.

Held annually for three to four days around the July 4th holiday, it's full of fun activities for all ages. This years event is scheduled to begin on the morning of Sunday July 1, 2018, and end following the spectacular fireworks show on July 4, 2018.

The Monmouth-Independence Rotary Club's Grand Parade is just one of many events on July 4th, making its way through Monmouth and Independence, and ending at Riverview Park in downtown Independence. Cascade Amusements will be hosting a carnival in the park, plus there will be vendors, Artisans, Entertainers, Crafts, and Children's Activities; and at the Independence Amphitheater, there will be live entertainment.

A magnificent fireworks display, will be presented over the river on July 3rd for Hometown Appreciation Day, and an even larger fireworks show on July 4th. Both shows begin at 10 PM, and our vendors will remain open for business until midnight on those nights. A $1 fee is collected at the gates to Riverview Park in Independence from everyone ages 6 and older on July 3, and a $2 fee is collected on July 4, from everyone ages 6 and older. These contributions help pay for the spectacular fireworks show, our amazing live entertainment shows and helps support various organizations throughout our community.

This year we have had some great involvement from community volunteers and has allowed us to bring back some old fashioned fun activities from the past. Returning this year will be the much missed Duck Derby. Stay tuned for information on how to buy your lucky duck!
